Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine

Credit

There are only three occasions where credit can be granted for the Master of Perioperative Medicine. These are:

  1. Successful completion of units in either the Master of Perioperative Medicine (M6033) or Graduate Certificate of Perioperative Medicine (M4029) and credited within 7 years of completion. Eligible units include POM5101, POM5102, POM5103 or POM5105. Students immediately progressing from completing their Graduate Certificate of Perioperative Medicine degree (course code M4029), and enrolling into the Master of Perioperative Medicine will automatically have successfully completed units which will be credited to the Masters.
  2. Past Graduate Diploma of Medicine alternative exit students can have successfully completed units of POM5001, POM5002, POM5003 and POM5004 credited to the new course Master of Perioperative Medicine M6033 units of POM5101, POM5102 and POM5103. It is important to note that all four units must be completed for credit to be granted in addition to all of these units being completed within the 7 year credit recency policy time frame. If credit is approved, this leaves the student yet to complete capstone project units POM5105 and POM5106 to meet Master's course requirements.
  3. Successful completion of unit POM5001 (Perioperative management of the cardiac patient) as part of the Master of Medicine M6027 course is eligible for credit towards unit POM5101 within 7 years of completion.

Recognition of prior learning for any other successfully completed units, courses, or speciality experience is NOT eligible for credit (this includes working in the industry for 10+ years).
