Admission FAQ

  • Do I need to enrol as soon as registrations open? +

    We do recommend you enrol as soon as possible to avoid missing out on your first unit preference. Units have strict intake quotas.
  • Are places limited for the course? +

    Yes. All units have maximum intake quotas.
  • Can I complete my Admission for part-time and change to full-time later (and visa versa)? +

    Yes. Please contact us for more information.
  • How do I pay for the Course, and do I have to pay all at once? +

    Fees are charged per unit(s) you are enrolled into each semester. The Monash Fees Department manages all student Fees. For further information and contact details go to http://monash.edu/fees
  • How do I receive my fee statement (Invoice)? +

    This is accessed through your WES (Web Enrolment System) account or by contacting the Monash Fees Department
  • What is the refund policy? +

    Students have until the Census Date at the beginning of each Semester to withdraw from a unit(s) without financial penalty (student amenity fees may still apply). The census date is when the University finalises your enrolment. If you withdraw after census date you will have to pay fees.
  • Does CSP and FEE-HELP apply to this course? +

    The course is Domestic Full Fee only. CSP (Commonwealth Supported Places) are not available. Students can apply for FEE-HELP if they are eligible to do so. Please see this link for further information

Enrolment FAQ

  • How many units do I need to enrol in if I am studying part-time? +

    Part-time students need to enrol in 12 credit points per unit. Each POM unit is 12 credit points, and each elective unit is 6 credit points.
  • How many units do I need to enrol in if I am studying full-time? +

    Full-time students need to enrol in 24 credit points per unit. Each POM unit is 12 credit points, and each elective unit is 6 credit points.
  • I am a new student, and having difficulty accepting my offer and enrolling for the first time? +

Course FAQ

  • How many hours per week do I need to dedicate to course learning? +

    The Masters core units (12 credit points each) are quite intensive and we suggest 20 to 24 hours per week of study commitment to view the lectures, reading packages and dedication to research in answering the course work (essays, group discussions and short answer questions). The elective units (6 credit points) are less intensive but still require a suggested minimum of 10 to 15 hours study dedication.
  • Can I take leave during the course? +

    Intermission (study leave) can be granted for up to 12 months (i.e. two semesters) during the duration of your study. An Intermission Application Form will need to be completed and sent to the course administrator.
  • If I choose not to finish the course, can I exit? +

    Yes, you will need to complete a Course Discontinuation Form and email it to the course administrator.
  • When does access to the Online course material open and close? +

    Please refer to the Monash official Semester start and finish dates. For the POM Units, web access will open one week prior to the official semester start date and close immediately after end of the semester.
  • Can I have ongoing access to the Online material once I have completed the Course? +

    Course material is only available for the duration of the semester study period.

IT Related FAQ

  • Can I download the videos so that I can watch them offline? +

    No. According to the Monash Copyright Policy, the videos are copyright to the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine. Downloading of the videos to your local device is prohibited and illegal.
  • Video playback is very slow or not playing very well. +

    Video playback can sometimes be slow due to network traffic, Internet connection, or low WI-FI or wireless signals.In order to play the video, you should have a stable broadband Internet connection. Most of the time, this issue occurs when you are trying to watch videos from your wireless data network from your mobile.The solution would be click the checkbox "slow connection video" bottom of the video player.
  • The Video quality is poor. +

    The video lectures are streaming in 4 different resolutions. You can increase or decrease the quality according to your Internet connection and playback device.
  • Sometimes video playback is blurred +

    The video playback quality may be inconsistent (i.e. change from blurred to clear) due to the Internet connection. If this occurs, please select constant quality level from the player
  • The videos are not playing and I’m receiving a warning message that I don’t have Adobe Flash +

    In order to play the video on your desktop or laptop, you should have Adobe Flash installed. You can download and install Adobe Flash at no cost from Get Adobe Flash
  • I cannot open Pre Reading Material +

    Pre-reading material are PDF files. In order to open them you need to have PDF Reader software installed in your device. You can download and install Adobe PDF Reader at no cost through Get Adobe PDF Reader
  • When I'm trying to open Pre Reading Materials, it asks me to enter a password. +

    This issue may occur when you are trying to open Pre-Reading Material with non PDF Readers, such as Apple Preview. To download and install Adobe PDF Reader at no cost go tohttp://get.adobe.com/reader
